Die Installation besteht aus einem laufenden Fernseh-Bildschirm inmitten der Ausstellung. Mit einem Sofa davor das dazu einlädt, auf ihm Platz zu nehmen und dem Bild zu folgen. Und einer Fernbedienung, die sich anbietet, sie zu benutzen.
In seiner Erwartungshaltung erkennt der Betrachter bekannte und unbekannte Bilder, Senderlogos, Werbung… Ist das Found Footage? In seiner Erwartungshaltung wird er auf eine inhaltliche Auflösung warten, auf eine Geschichte, einen Sinn… auf die Kunst! Es wird seine Zeit brauchen, oder auch einen Blick in diesen Text, bis der Betrachter sich eingestehen muss, bis er begreift, dass er hier und in diesem Moment und in dieser Ausstellung einfach nur fernsieht. Er wird sich ertappt fühlen, vielleicht hintergangen, um seine Zeit und seinen Sinn für Kunst betrogen. Es ist eine Unverschämtheit. Und eine sehr konkrete Frage an den Betrachter, an die Kunst und an ihr Verhältnis zueinander.
Die Arbeit lädt dazu ein, das System Bildschirm, Programm und Konsument im Kontext der Kunstgalerie zu reflektieren. Kann Fernsehen Kunst sein? Die äußere Situation ist im Wohnzimmer wie in der Galerie dieselbe, der Zuschauer folgt bewegten Bildern auf einem Bildschirm. In welchem Verhältnis stehen Medienrealität und Medienkunst? Das ist eine Frage an den Zuschauer, aber auch an die anderen Arbeiten in der Ausstellung. Die Arbeit setzt sie bewusst in den Zusammenhang mit der Trivialität und Banalität des Fernsehens. Ist da eine Grenze? Und wo ließe sie sich ziehen?
Wie verändert sich die Kunst, wenn sie im Kontext der medialen Wirklichkeit steht, wenn die mediale Wirklichkeit in den Kunstraum eindringt? Der künstlerische Eingriff ist die Transplatzierung des Banalen, unserer medialen Alltags-Realität in den Kunstraum der Galerie. Der Fernseher rückt aus dem privaten Wohnambiente in den neutralen White Cube und wird zum Monitor, der in Endlosschleifen Kunst zeigt... Oder?

The installation consists of a running screen in the middle of the exhibition. With a sofa in front inviting you to sit down and follow the moving pictures. And with a remote control that offers itself to use it. In his expectations the observer detects known and unknown images, station logos, advertising and asks himself ... Is this found footage? In his expectations he will wait for a substantive resolution within a story or meaning ... he will wait for art to come! And it will take its time, or a look into this text, until the viewer has to admit, until he realizes that he is just watching TV. Here and at this moment and in this exhibition. He will feel caught and perhaps feel deceived, cheated of his time and in his sense of art. It is an outrage. And a very specific question to the viewer, to art, and to their relationship.
The work invites to reflect the system of screen, program and consumer in the context of the exhibition space. Can television be art? The structural situation is the same as in the living room in the gallery, in both of them a viewer follows moving pictures on a screen.
What is the relationship between media reality and media art? This is a question to the audience, and to the other works in the exhibition too. The work consciously brings them into conflict with the triviality and banality of television. Is there a line? And where would you have to draw this line?
What changes when art is confrontated with the medial reality which penetrates into the artistic space? The artistic intervention is the transference of trivial medial reality into the exhibition space. The television moves from the private living room scenario into the neutral White Cube and becomes a screen which shows art in infinite loops. Does it?
